IRB Coaching Rugby 7s Level 1

The IRB Coaching Rugby Sevens Level 1 has been designed for new and aspiring rugby sevens coaches, and will be delivered by trained IRB educators.

Scottish Rugby launched ‘A Year of Sevens’ back in January with 2014 welcoming the third Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s and a home Commonwealth Games, at which rugby sevens played a key part at Ibrox Stadium. As well as these international events, this course becomes another element in building a legacy for the sport that was created in the Border town, Melrose.

This course focuses on the following aspects of the game:

  • Principles of 7 a side rugby
  • Team profiling
  • Performance goals
  • Key factor analysis
  • Functional role analysis
  • Tactics
  • Preparation for a tournament
  • Team analysis
  • Practical application of key factor and functional role analysis
