Scotland captain Martin makes draw for Girls’ Club Cups

Scotland Women captain and former Girls’ Club Cup winner Lisa Martin has made the draw for this year’s U18 and U15 Girls’ Club Cup preliminary and qualifier rounds.

Grampian Girls will play Tayside & Fife in a Caledonian clash in the U18 competition while Ayr host Cartha Queens Park in a west coast fixture.

Elsewhere, last year’s U18 Cup runners-up, Hillhead/Jordanhill will play Annan and semi-finalists, Murrayfield Wanderers, will host Biggar.

In the U15 Cup preliminary round sees Lismore hosting Cartha Queens Park, Annan welcoming West Lothian Girls and Borders Girls travelling to play Leith Vixens/East Lothian.

Last year’s U15 cup champions Biggar receive a bye in this round alongside fellow finalists, Stirling County.

Lisa Martin made the draw at a Scotland Women training camp at Oriam preparing for the Women’s Six Nations.

Martin said: “Good luck to all the teams involved. I was lucky enough to play in and win the U18 cup when I was younger and it’s a great competition.

It’s really important that girls have the opportunity to play and develop in a competitive and fun environment and the cup provides just that.”

The Cups provide a platform for clubs across the country to take part in competitive competition with the tournament finals being held at BT Murrayfield.

Teams enter into the Cup or Shield competitions depending on their early results in both age groups to ensure that all teams have the opportunity to play a number of competitive fixtures.
