With no fixtures scheduled in the Tennent’s Women’s Premier League this weekend it’s a chance to take stock of the current standings.

We’re six weeks into the competition and two teams are pulling ahead at the top of the table.

Hillhead Jordanhill have been in imperious form, with five bonus-point wins securing them the top spot. Their most challenging fixture came in week two against Stirling County at Bridgehaugh, but they still managed to secure a 28-48 win.

Watsonians are just four points behind, with four wins and a losing bonus point from their second match of the season against Stirling County (24-21). The team scored 109 unanswered points in their match against Stewartry and have scored the most points of any team overall – 287 to Hillhead Jordanhill’s 255.

Stirling County aren’t far behind in third place, having secured a hard-fought win over Watsonians (24-21) as well as taking victories against Stewartry and Annan.

Corstorphine share Stirling County’s result of three wins and two losses. They are in fourth place, having secured victories over Annan, Cartha Queens Park and Stirling County.

Just ten points separate the top four teams and, with Hillhead Jordanhill taking on Watsonian’s next weekend, there could be a change at the top of the table.

Stewartry, Cartha Queens Park and Annan are in fifth, sixth and seventh place respectively having taken one win apiece.

Stewartry enjoyed their first win of the campaign last weekend against Annan (10-31) while, in previous weeks, Cartha took the win over Stewartry (24-26) and Annan enjoyed their first victory of the season against Cartha (41-53).

The league will split after next weekend’s fixtures and all the teams will be looking to build on successes so far.
