Preston Lodge RFC - youth rugby development officer

Contract for service: £12,000

Equivalent to approx. 24 hours per week

This is a self-employed role, though an employed role may be possible depending on discussions with the successful applicant. The contract is for 12 months, with potential extension subject to funding.

Preston Lodge RFC is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and UKCC qualified service provider to work on the club’s behalf in the Prestonpans community and local schools. The purpose of this position is to recruit and retain players for lifelong participation in rugby with Preston Lodge RFC, and in turn contribute to Scottish Rugby’s national and regional strategies.

The programme requires experience of both sports development and coaching in a club and school environment, as well as a full, valid driving licence


  • increase playing participation (players and teams) within Preston Lodge RFC and schools in the catchment area of Preston Lodge High School
  • deliver an agreed programme of coach and volunteer education and continuing personal development
  • work with a range of agencies to raise the profile of rugby in the local community
  • manage and support modern apprentice students
  • deliver high quality coaching sessions to Preston Lodge RFC and associated cluster schools and community groups
  • support the development of talented players at Preston Lodge RFC and associated schools.
