Jade Konkel

Jade Elizabeth Konkel made her Scotland Women 7s debut at the first leg of the 2015 Rugby Europe Grand Prix in Russia and scored vital tries leading to the Scots beating Ukraine for the first time and progressing to win the Bowl.

Konkel played rugby sporadically alongside her family at Inverness Craig Dunain while growing up, but began to play seriously when she was selected for Scotland Women U20 in 2011/12.

She made her full Scotland debut off the bench against England in the 2013 Six Nations and has gone on to earn 27 caps, while also being a key figure for her Glasgow-based club side Hillhead Jordanhill.

Konkel made history when she became the first full-time female player in the BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy in June 2016.

Born in Inverness and a former pupil of Munlochy PS and Fortrose Academy, on the Black Isle, Konkel also played basketball for Highland Bears and had two season in the national league. S

She has represented Scotland in athletics for the army cadets (winning two gold medals in 2008/09 for shot putt and discus) and gained her black belt in the martial art Goshin-Ryu Kempo in 2008.
