Rhona Lloyd

Rhona Lloyd was selected for the Scotland Women 7s squad in 2017 and made a try-scoring debut in the opening game of the Rugby Europe Women’s Sevens Trophy in Ostrava.

She went on to claim top try scorer with 19 to her name in the squad’s unbeaten run to lift the Trophy and gain promotion to the Grand Prix.

Since taking up rugby at the age of 12 at Edinburgh’s Tynecastle High School, Lloyd has worked her way up the age-grades playing for Scotland Women U19 7s and Scotland Women U20.

She earned her first Scotland Women cap in the opening game of the 2016 Six Nations against England.

She also captained Murrayfield Wanderers U18 side to victory in the Scottish Rugby Girls Club Cup in 2013/14.

Lloyd is in her third year at Edinburgh University and studying reproductive biology.

She plays for the university’s women’s team, who had an outstanding 2016/17 season winning the British Universities & College Sport (BUCS) final at Twickenham, the BUCS Championship Sevens and BUCS Premier North League.

Outside rugby, Lloyd was in the top 100 in the UK at the 60m sprint. Her dad also plays rugby for the Caledonian Thebans.
